The Original HCG Diet Protocol to Lose Weight Fast
The original HCG Diet was outlined in the manuscript “Pounds and Inches” by Dr. Simeons.
The HCG Diet protocol has been around since the 1950’s, and, although it has transformed a little since its first inception, the dramatic results have stayed the same.
The original HCG Diet menu consisted of the following:
- Breakfast: any quantity of coffee or tea without sugar. Stevia and Saccharin could be used. No more than one tablespoon of milk every 24 hours.
- Lunch: 100 grams of lean protein chosen from list, one type of vegetable from the list, one breadstick or melba toast, one serving of fruit from the list
- Dinner: same as lunch
- Snacks: fruit or breadstick could be saved and consumed between meals as a snack
The original HCG Diet utilized daily HCG injections to help the body pull its caloric and nutrient needs from the body’s stored fat. This is what facilitates the rapid fat burning while consuming only 500 calories a day.
While on the HCG Diet, you will not consume any of the following:
- Fats
- Sugar
- Carbohydrates
- Dairy
- Beverages other than water, coffee, tea or mineral water
- Foods not on the provided list
Changes between the Original HCG Diet and Today’s Protocol
As with anything in life, transformation occurs, and the HCG Diet protocol is no different.
While maintaining the basic guidelines and protocol of the original HCG Diet plan, we have added some changes that make it easier to lose weight and feel good at the same time.
Here are some of the top changes you will notice:
- Breakfast – you can add one whole grapefruit or apple. You may also have one egg if you need protein.
- Snacks – you may have one small orange or apple between meals
- Vitamin B12 and vitamin complex – this additional injection helps boost weight loss, energy, and immunity
- You may go up to 700 calories a day
At Weight Loss Medical Center, we no longer include saccharine on our HCG Diet protocol, but there are many flavors of stevia you can try. Some of them are especially good when added to our beverage original HCG Diet recipes. Frozen Cappuccino using both peppermint and chocolate stevia is a favorite for many people.
Of course, we also include our complete menu plans, shopping guide, and recipe book designed to help you lose weight while enjoying a plethora of easy to prepare and delicious meals.
What to Expect after Beginning the Original HCG Diet
The first two days of the original HCG injection diet are called the loading days.
At this time, you will begin your injections, but you will still be eating whatever you want. In fact, there is a minimum requirement of 2,000 calories a day of foods with a high-fat content.
The purpose of this is to load your bloodstream with ready to use fat when you start your weight loss phase on day three of your injections.
Once you begin your 500 to 700 calorie a day HCG Diet protocol, you will start to burn stored fat at a rapid pace.
Do not expect your weight loss to be the same each day. Most people do lose up to 30 pounds in 30 days – some more, some less.
You may only lose one-quarter to one-half of a pound one day but a full pound or even two the next.
Men tend to lose weight quicker than women because they have more natural muscle on their bodies, so do not be upset if the man in your life is losing weight faster than you is you are a female.
The more weight you have to lose, the quicker you will drop the pounds at the start of the HCG Diet.
You will stay on the weight loss and HCG injection phase for no longer than six weeks at a time before increasing calories and allowable foods while giving your weight a chance to stabilize. The HCG Diet can be repeated as many times as necessary until you reach your goal.
